It rises almost a hundred metres high out of the mudflats! Also worth a visit are the garden and home of the famous impressionist Claude Monet in Giverny and Cherbourgs sea aquarium with the Maritime Museum. The exhibitions at Omaha Beach and the other landing beaches of the Second World War provide information about the liberation of Western Europe by the Allied invasion in 1944.

Whether it’s cider, jam or tarte aux pommes from Norman apples in Calvados: in the camping restaurants, small pastry shops and farm shops, sweet connoisseurs get their money's worth. The cows that graze on the gently rolling meadows of Normandy give a particularly rich milk. Visit a country cheese maker in one of the world-famous cheese villages! In addition a fragrant baguette - c'est bon!
